Maple Worksheets

Click to visit Maple site...

I have included here a sample of Maple worksheets that I have used in various classes over the years. All were written in Maple 5-8 and tested in Maple 10. You should not have any problems with newer versions either, but if you do, please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance.

Physlets

These JAVA-based Physics Applets - "Physlet" - utilize .jar files created by Wolfgang Christian at Davidson College. I have included both the "jar" files as well as a text version of the HTML source for each applet. To run/view the applet click on the title. For more information on Physlets click here.

Textbooks

For several years (beginning at Francis Marion University) I have been working on a two-volume textbook covering Maple, LaTeX and JAVA, as well as elements of web-programming (HTML, Javascript, PHP) at a level that is approporaite for undergardiate students in the sciences. Below I have provided a full table of contents and chapter excerpts from the (mostly complete) two volume text - The Art of Scientific Computing. Please note that these materials are "works in progress." If you are interested in using the text in a class and would like to purchase a complete copy, please contact me for more information.

Tools of the Trade

Software

I have developed a suite of software tools to help automate many of the post-processing steps involved in the analysis and modeling of high-density evoked reaction scalp potential (ERP) data. erPlot allows for quick plotting of single or grand-averaged data from a 128-Channel array and can display the voltage, power, energy and cognitive activity measures. erPeak will perform a standard waveform identification analysis on a set of files - providing a topographic display of the peak amplitude and latency values within user specified windows. The software is written in Visual Basic 6 and may be downloaded by clicking the links above (the zip files include test data). You may also need to install the VB6 runtime available here.

Presentations

Below is a sample of different talks I have given. Some are "tutorials" and some are invited presentations. If you are interested in having me give a talk at your university please contact me for scheduling.
